Official Announcement: New Principal of Comanche Middle School
Dodge City, KS – We are proud to announce that Mr. Jonathan Hansen has been appointed the new Principal of Comanche Middle School for the upcoming school year.
A familiar face in our community, Mr. Hansen brings 20 years of dedicated service to Dodge City Public Schools. Since 2019, he has served as the Assistant Principal at Dodge City High School, following a successful 13-year tenure as a social studies teacher.
Mr. Hansen’s impact on the district has been substantial. He led the initiative to centralize district enrollment and managed the safety and security protocols at DCHS. He has also served as the administrator for the AFJROTC program at DCHS since its inception. His leadership was recognized in 2024 when he was named the Kansas Principals Association Area 4 Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year.
An advocate for lifelong learning, Mr. Hansen earned his Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership from Fort Hays State University in 2022. He also holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Fort Hays State University (2019) and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (2006).
For Jonathan, Dodge City is home. His wife, Kristin, is a first-grade teacher at Ross Elementary, and they are the proud parents of two young children, Eliana and Jackson. In his free time, you can often find him behind the microphone as the volunteer announcer for Red Demon soccer, as well as state-level volleyball, basketball, and soccer tournaments. He and his family enjoy traveling and “re-exploring the world” through the eyes of their children.
Superintendent Jason Scheck stated, “Mr. Hansen’s deep roots in Dodge City and his unwavering commitment to student success make him the ideal leader for Comanche Middle School.”
